After the stunning success of 2016’s inaugural supersónic, in conjunction with Southampton Music Hub, són are delighted to announce news of their 2017 programme for young orchestral musicians – supersónic ’17.

In a similar format to our inspirational and acclaimed orchestral summer school earlier this year, supersónic ’17 builds upon the foundations we laid down with these talented children, offering musical youngsters in Southampton, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Wiltshire the chance to learn, make music and develop their skill alongside others at a grade 2-5 level. The format has now been extended to include an extra day and a choral workshop, where we’ll be turning the whole orchestra into a choir to deepen their musical experience and develop their awareness and abilities further.

Alongside daily full-orchestra rehearsals and a new choral experience, supersónic ’17 includes improvisation workshops, sectional work with dedicated professional specialists (from són, Southampton Music Hub and in collaboration with University of Southampton), chamber music coaching sessions for selected pupils, and a final showcase performance to celebrate all that these brilliant youngsters have achieved in four intensive days.
